Description

You're familiar with the lotus as a sacred aquatic plant representing calm and serenity. The lotus, also known as the sacred lotus or the oriental lotus, is often featured in divine representations in oriental religions. It's a plant with a rich history and meaning for some cultures. If when you think of the lotus you imagine a delicate flower on a lake, it's less common to imagine the fruit that emerges from it. In fact, when the lotus flower ripens, the pistil sprouts a "false fruit" that serves as a protector for real, seed-like fruits. It's the large, honeycombed fruit, studded with the holes that housed its seeds and perched on a long, rigid stalk, that produces the dry lotus. The brown, almost black color of dried lotus adds relief and texture to a classic bouquet. Alone in a vase, dried lotus is also very pretty in an interior, but it can also be accompanied by stabilized mosses and lichens in a plant wall, or pampas and lagurus in a pretty bouquet. For DIY creations, the head of the dried lotus can be separated from the stem to add to your projects, a wall, a plant frame or a wreath of flowers. With its otherworldly allure, the dried lotus is certainly one of a kind and will give your creations an original design.

General recommendations

Dried flowers require minimal maintenance. Phocealys advises you :

  • Do not expose your dried flowers directly to the sun, as direct exposure could damage the colour of your bouquets
  • To remove dust from your dried bouquets, wipe them lightly with a cloth to avoid damaging them. You can also use a hairdryer, as long as the air is cold and you do not blow too close to the bouquet

If you follow these tips, your dried flowers will last almost forever!
